Assistant Teacher
Church Street holds a special place in my heart. Way back in 1995, this was the
very first school I attended when I was enrolled in their pre-K program. It was this
connection that ended up being the reason I chose Church Street for my oldest
son’s pre-K program in the fall of 2020. I knew that I made the right decision
when through the chaos of the pandemic they still made sure to put the students
first and give them as normal a school experience as possible. It is Church Street’s
dedication to making learning fun and enjoyable for the little ones that made it a no-brainer to enroll my other children here!
I feel that working as an assistant in the Voyagers class is the perfect fit for me. This age has been my favorite age because the kids are learning how to fully express themselves, are so pure of heart, and speak with brutal honesty. They are learning how to exist independently, but still very much need the help of the caring adults in their lives.
Aside from the experience of being a mother, I have experience in working in the education field as well. I have a BA in secondary education/mathematics from Providence College and a masters in education from Post University. I am a certified 7-12 math teacher. Prior to taking time off to be with my kids, I spent four years teaching math at Oakwood Friends school and covered a maternity leave at Highland middle school.
My husband and I live in Red Hook with our three children (Jack, Josh, and Abby) and our dog (Belle). In addition to working at Church Street, I volunteer as the coach for both boys’ soccer teams. When we are not in the classroom or on the fields, we like to go out for bike rides and walks/hikes, swim, have movie nights, bake up tasty treats, and take lots of day trips, including zoos, aquariums, and amusement parks.
